Just sent “Standish” off to “The Society of Authors” for a competition – The McKitterick Prize:  “best novel by an author over *coughsplutter* years old."

 

Wish me luck.

 

There was nowhere on the application form asking for genre…

 

When they get to page 24 they are in for a shock…  *grin*

 

 

He would follow him up the narrow attic stairs drinking in the sight of his boyish form, outlined in light breeches and a shirt.  Once in the darkness of the night, on the flat roof there was a large and elaborate telescope, and standing behind Rafe, would put his arms around him, while he adjusted the mirrors and explained how the mechanism worked.

He almost imagined that Rafe was aware of his shameful thoughts, and sometimes he allowed himself to think that he could feel that the boy was deliberately pressing back against him. He knew it was madness, and that it could never be, it was simply co-incidence and his own sinful wishful thinking and he deserved damnation for imagining that an innocent boy would share his lustful fantasy.

You do realize we've not read Standish. We really do need to, you know. The boys are gagging for it. (Especially Seph who's a hideously romantic chap and really likes historical things.) And there's nothing wrong with being over *coughsplutter.* 40's not old at all, and nothing in its immediate vicinity either. :P

You are NOT so old! Seph's ultimate love of his life is Maya Angelou, after all, and I lust over Sharon Osbourne immensely, so I think we're really all okay with ages. Get over it! *huggles*

I won't get sidetracked. I'm making marvelous progress now that I can wibble endlessly over how hot Seph is, lol.
