I'm more and more impressed with these books, the skeins are becoming more tangled as we move on, but thank God no sign of any bloody prophecies.

The humour is black, english and funny when it hits - one of the Whaling Cities is called Diana Princess of Whales which made me lose my tea.  But what impressed me recently is that he just introduced gayness with such elegant simplicity that I found myself staring at JKR and going "See? That's how to do it."

Basically there's a house with slaves, and the owner of the slaves is a big opera buff and she keeps the male and females apart as much as she can because she knows what tragic things can happen if male and female slaves get together.  However (and this is a paraphrase as the book is upstairs) "as will often happen, girls fell in love with girls and boys with other boys but because this had never happened in her operas, she didn't see it happening."

Perfect.

As for HEROES - why isn't it on every day?  Why do I have to wait a week?  ARGH!!!!
