Ok. Back at work. Ick. However! *bounce * I've actually bitten the bullet and submitted "Transgressions" and boy oh boy did I get relief to see it disappear into the ether. Pressing Send is harder than anything, but once it's gone, whee! 'Course there's no guarantee that PD Publishing will be interested in it, but we'll see what happens. Now I can get on with Hard & Fast (still not over-enthused with that title) and then back to what I really want to be doing, Junction X.

As to the whole LJ stuff - I've been putting a lot of thought into it and frankly I'm staying here. I'm not paying LJ another red cent, so I'll have to find 9 Icons I like and stick to them, and I dislike everything they've done recently but I have a largish flist here and it grows more with authors every day. This LJ is for my original writing and RL (what little there is of that) and I can easily do Blogspot (with no readers) and MySpace with a (ton of friends and still no readers) but neither facility makes it easy to keep up with what others are doing. I have too much time and effort invested in this LJ to move - what with the EAA etc.

I don't say it's an ideal solution, but it will have to do, it doesn't make me like my decision, but I don't know of a better one right now. If it comes to the point when they suspend me for writing about young men of 16 or 17 having sex, well, that's their right, I suppose and that will make my decision for me.

That's pretty much my reaction to the LJ squabbles. This is the spot that, at present, most fits my needs - incluidng friends who are here and LJs by people I am interested in. If they turf me, I'll have to go elsewhere. But until then, I'll stay - because I don't see any really good alternatives.

Nod nod. I'm not happy about it, but there's just nowhere else that I think has the same web.

Yes, and to my mind, that's what's really important.

LJ won't kick me off (unless I go on a mad underage non-con necrophiliac smut writing spree *and* don't f-lock it, but in that case the sun will have fallen into the sea, so getting kicked off LJ will be the least of my worries), but I am glad that most people on my flist are either *definitely* staying here, or merely have other blogs elsewhere as back ups just in case. So long as there's no mass migration ...

I don't see any mass migration, or mass deletions either, simply a lot of fear and anger. I'd prefer not to join in on either. I don't think LJ owes any kind of tolerance to homoerotic authors or fandom or to anyone else; it's a venue, nothing more. We used to have to make our own venues, and it didn't work as well.

The fact that no such communications hub has worked as well for me as LJ is incentive to stay here.

I submitted two this weekend and edits on two more.

Thanks hun. I've been around, but I've been thinking a lot and didn't come on line that much.

There's no real point in me following fandom, as I would only be cutting off my nose to spite my face as the saying goes, but I'm not at all happy with what LJ has done, all the same.

I hear ya on the LJ thing. I linked Blogger to my site, so at least I don't feel so self-conscious about random non-LJ types peering into my private life.

And yay on the submission! :)

*luck* with Transgressions.

I'm keeping [livejournal.com profile] sabethea here, but my fandom writing is going elsewhere; and I've set up penelope-friday at Insane Journal for my original writing things. (I must email you with the various website thingies that I've set up...)

I'm not particularly happy with my decision, but sabethea's an unpaid account anyway so it's not like they're getting anything from me. :-/

I don't know, you know? I really don't know. It's horribly dark. It starts off all summer and hot weather and boy-love and gradually spirals into dark and dark and dark - sort of a mettyfor for the English Civil War, but I may have gone a bit far...

Oh god, what idiocy. Reminds me of my home town 25 years ago where a man was fined for obscenity for wearing a 'Keep on Trucking' T-shirt because the T and the R could be read as a F if you squinted. Good job that magistrate retired before FCUK became so ubiquitous!

Yay!

Yeah, that was part of it, I spent an hour wrassling with Igoogle and trying to make their RSS widget work so I could have all my feeds on one page, but it only wanted to have ONE feed and no more, so I thought, sod it.

Good to know you're staying put. I've got journals at GJ and IJ but really to keep in touch with some others. I like my LJ so I'm staying as long as I can.

I have high hopes for Transgressions

I recently spent $150 on a permanent account, so I'm sure not going anywhere for a good long while. I don't post much, if anything, that they could find objectionable*, and I rather like using LJ as a way to keep up with old friends and make a few new ones. It's easier than other sites I've found, at least. Some sites allow for posting but don't make keeping up with things easy. Some sites allow for large lists of friends but little to no space for actually writing and talking. LJ rather combines the best of both to create just what I like.

* Just because I don't post it doesn't mean I don't write it, though.

I don't think it's spinelessness.

I don't want to go anywhere else, because I've a goodly group of people who *aren't* leaving, and with whom I want to stay in contact. The other places I've looked aren't what I want at this point. So unless I can yank my entire F-list along with me, I don't want to go.

I have such a good F-list. =-)

Good luck with 'Transgressions'!

I'm staying with LJ for (mostly) RL and filkish stuff, and to be able to comment on other people's posts, but will probably let it revert to a free account when my paid one expires next year. (Which means I'll have to do a lot of icon pruning and copying...) But I have accounts at GJ (whose interface I dislike), IJ (whose name I dislike a little, but whose interface is better), JournalFen (which is quite nice overall) and JournalScape (which I've never used except to stake a claim). All under the same name. It looks, at the moment, as if most of the HP fandom that's migrating is heading for IJ, though with a healthy proportion going to JF, and there's a lot of 'mirroring' happening too. I need to get hold of Semagic, I think, and work out how to do this myself. GJ apparently has similar TOS to LJ, so is looking dubious. There are a couple of fan-built projects going on, but not up and running yet.

Thanks, hun.

You DEFINITELY need semagic, why aren't you already using it??
