Can't really post this on the EAA, but there must be people on my flist who would find this interesting - I think I'll give it a go, only it will be teh gay, so will be ignored.

The Times Ghost Story Competition

Doesn't say you have to be a UK resident and frankly, coverage in the Times is much better than a 2 night stay in a hotel! I have to admit - the article written by Susan Hill has bits that I strongly disagree with - no modern full length ghost stories? She obviously doesn't get around enough. I feel like emailing her with a few suggestions - Vintage by Steve Berman for one!

There's also a children's writer competition

Hi Erastes, I know you like historical fiction with gay relationships so wanted to suggest this book I just stumbled across. It sounds quite promising:

The Boy I Love by Marion Husband. :-)

I found it on the allromanceebooks website, but it is available in paperback also.

you should post the review on Amazon - no one has reviewed it yet and that always helps books to sell, I think. :-)

i have - I don't know what's up with Amazon recently. I've posted LOADS of reviews in the past few weeks and they never show up.

What's even more galling is that Ms Hubbard has posted a review of Standish (she loved it) and THAT hasn't shown up either, so I can't even boast about that.!!!!

That is weird. My reviews usually show up immediately. Hopefully it will post!

Must admit I'm never quite sure about Susan Hill, though I am rather fond of her latest detective books. I think she lives in something of an ivory tower, to be honest. Hush my mouth - again!!!

I was quite surprised at her "there's no decent ghost stuff around" when I've read a good few, and I don't even read paranormals for a lot of the time!!

My point exactly! I suspect she's trapped in the 19th century and no-one will rescue her!

Heh. I'm guilty of that too.

"Why isn't anyone writing proper Regency?"

I would find the 2000 words really difficult to cope with, lol. This is why I've had to stick an extra chapter in to SC...just so my boys could eventually get 'down to it'. You wouldn't believe I used to have trouble dreaming up enough to fill an A4 sized piece of paper at school...now I've swayed the other way, lol.

I have to agree, for me it takes me about 2k to set something up - just need to learn to write more tightly I think..
