Possibly the best review I’ve ever had – and it’s for The Snow Queen, the short story I had published in “I Do – an anthology in support of marriage equality”

The reviewer (Indigene on the Phade and Cboy Junkie on LJ was hugely kind and really understood the themes I was going for in the piece.

“I loved this short story in all of its layers and facets – its prose, imagery, symbolism, metaphors, characterisations and dialogue. But above all I loved the honesty and integrity with which Josh’s story is told in all of its melancholy and sorrow because it recognises and affirms that a relationship does not end when someone leaves or dies, and that for the one left behind the process of mourning the separation is as important, intimate and real a part of that relationship as was the reality of union, of being together.”

I’ve been watching the Springwatch webcams and it’s utterly addictive. There’s a linnet’s nest, and a reed warbler and swallows and a kestrel.  Unfortunately the male linnet seems to think his offspring, newly hatched this morning are invaders as he’s taken two of them out of the nest when the female goes off to stretch her wings. ARGH! Adopt one today! - Adopt one today! - Adopt one today! - Adopt one today! -

This drives me bonkers. Continuity is important. I know that it's difficult sometimes in mad action scenes to keep track of everyone, and I'm sure that if I was writing an orgy I'd be struggling to keep everyone organised and not know which him was who and who was doing what to whom, but otherwise, why is it so hard to have people actually enter the room before they speak, or actually take the baby before they have it in their arms? I've just read a scene where someone has someone else at swordspoint - and keeping the point at the man's throat he reduces the distance between them to less than a hand's width.

How - exactly - is this possible without running the other man through the neck, or dislocating his shoulder and possibly cutting his arm off? ARGH!

And another agent rejection. A perfect end to the day! *sends it out again*

Adopt one today! - Adopt one today! - Adopt one today! - Adopt one today! - Adopt one today! - Adopt one today!
