I’ll shortly be taking over the reins of “Bosom Friends” – which is the lesbian sister-site of Speak its Name. (Link of the new site to come)

It’s a genre even more neglected that gay historicals was, and needs a good boot up the arse.

So I’m asking for some help.  If you are a reader of lesbian historical fiction I’d love some reviews to kick off the site as there’s no reviews there yet.  I’d also like some recommendations of books to include as I know nothing much about lesbian historical fiction as yet.  As with Speak Its Name, no paranormals (ghosts are ok) and real history only, not AU.

Here’s the list that exists at the moment – which I’ll be amending and adding to, and including links – but obviously  I know there must be a lot more out there and I need to know about them.

But most importantly I need reviews.  Doesn’t matter if you’ve already posted them elsewhere – I’m happy to republish them for you.

If you are an author or publisher of lesbian historicals, get in touch, either here, or email me on erastes at erastes dot com and let me know.  If you’d like the book reviewed, send me a copy and I’ll find a reviewer and get you some attention.

Can I just welcome all the new watcher, friends and commenters?  When I had the old blog as underlucius I used to have a regular friending party, and that’s not a tradition that I’ve kept up here, to my regret.

I only have one rule – polite discussion.

Disagree with me, and each other – all you like – but stay polite.  If you don’t know the difference between debate and wank then you aren’t welcome here.

And before you do pile in with your dissent, remember that everyone is entitled to their opinion—no matter how much you might disagree with it.  I live in a country where I can say what I like—literally.  Criticising the government, the royal family – anything.  I can stand in Speakers Corner and rally my minions.  I don’t – I’m far too lazy.  Come the day when I do take over the world, I’ll be one of those World Dominatrices who lie on silken cushions with a slave boy or two on a leash while my troops do the hard work. And yes, I will have read the Evil Overlord’s list. Carefully.

So, I’m entitled to my opinion, you are entitled to yours.  I am not going to bother to troll over to your LJ attempting to change your mind about anything, so it’s not worth working too hard to change mine.  Not that I have much of one left, mind you.

[info]nojojojo sent you a message on LiveJournal: Now wait just a frickin' minute..
The message was:
“You thought my post was *trolling*? Seriously? It's fine if you don't remember me from RaceFail -- though I remember you -- but for you to accuse me of trying to start wank for wank's sake via a sockpuppet or fakename is just flat-out wrong (speaking of having facts wrong).
Look, I get your perspective. I'm also a fanfic writer (though I share my stories only with friends now); I've also made a pro career of my love of m/m, with a number of short stories published and some m/m content in my forthcoming trilogy of novels. So I was trying to stay polite and have a reasoned conversation with you, even though my knee-jerk reaction to your post was to tear my hair out at the offensive, short-sighted, selfish entitlement all over it.
But if you think *that* was trolling, then Jesus Christ you're not even worth trying to talk to.”

As you can see – another person who thinks that every comment is aimed at her, as I didn’t accuse anyone of sockpuppeting – all I did was freeze the thread as I had said all I was going to say and the atmosphere was getting less than debatey. I’ve actually never heard of this person, and I took almost no part in racefail, I certainly don’t remember posting about it – I completely and deliberately stayed out of the discussion.

It baffles me, really.  The only reason I’m closing comments on this post is that I’m done with the discussion, but as I’ve never received anything as unpleasant as this as a private message before I felt that airing it was the best way to clear the air from the inbox.
