I was playing Canis Canem Edit again (yes, I'm addicted) and have now turned my protagonist bisexual.  I don't see anything in the notes about this being possible, (ETA: now I have) although as Rockstar is the maker, I'm not surprised it is, but it still had me howling with surprised laughter. You can chat up girls in the game and if they in a faction that likes you (currently with me it's nerd girls, all preppies and the greasers) you can give them a present and they'll kiss you, (I know, shocking) but you get faction points for just chatting and greeting guys too. So I'm in the library and say hello to this Preppie young man and he wants a present. I give him some flowers and bingo! Mouth action!

This isn't the guy I kissed, but whee! That means there's more out there to find!

That's most of the fun I get out of playing The Sims (besides decorating the interiors) is moving two male sims in together to set up house and watch their romance bloom. They're so adorable when they're flirting, kissing, and cuddling on the sofa! And I love that the costume choices have widened so you can dress them in period clothing. They're like animated paper dolls. Even after all this time, I'm still impressed that the game developers made it so you could have same-sex couples.

I did get the Sims 1 and even managed to get "Lucius" and "Severus" to kiss once, but it was all the "cook, eat, clean up, go to the loo, have a bath" stuff that drove me mad.

I love the idea of period clothes, though!

This sounds like so much fun. I've never played video games. Loved the video.

You ever run across something that would make a fantastic story but is so outside what you write that you actually feel at a loss that it won't be a novel?

this is well and truly out of my field but would make the most amazing book
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ladies_of_Llangollen

the older one was the younger one's teacher at boarding school and because their families said they shouldn't be friends (read lovers) they dressed as men and eloped ending up in this really rural place in wales
they became infamous and people travelled to see them
they lived together happily IN VICTORIAN ENGLAND for over 50 years
this is closer to your period than mine, so I thought I'd pass it on
if it's not you but you can think of someone who might use it pass it on, it really is a lovely femmeslash waiting to happen, and I can write femme-slash but not victoriana so I tohught I'd share

It sounds like a great story, but I'd never write f/f - I'm sure there are many people who would.

that's what i thought, it's a fantastic story and would make a lovely charming read but I dont do lovely charming reads and i don't do victoriana so it's absolutely wasted on me
if you can think of someone who could use the idea pass it on, it's a book I'd buy and read, but not one i could write, and i thought of you because you wrote regency and it's not too big a gap

Hello-- I came across your LJ when I was Googling around for CCE fanfiction.

Just thought I'd check in and say "Hi!" and that you have great taste in videogames. I'm a CCE fan, too... I think the whole Jimmy-being-able-to-kiss-boys thing is most awesome. There are also a couple of canon gay couples in the game, too (I won't say who they are because I don't want to spoiler you if you haven't reached that part yet...)

And... your work sounds amazing! I'm totally keeping my eye out for it.

Hi! Always nice to meet new people!

Oh please, do tell - I've finished the game and am on "the endless summer" section now, and kicking myself because I didn't complete "panty raid" so I can't possibly get 100 percent (not that I'll ever find all the bloody rubber bands or gnomes)

And thanks! I hope you try some of it out!

Mind if I friend you? (I have a sneaking suspicion I remember you from YEARS ago when I was in the HP fandom, too... this is SURREAL. A few other HP folk seem to be in this fandom, too... yes, we do CCE fic... :) )

Um, Trent and Kirby (the bully and the jock Jimmy can kiss) are actually on a date in the Movie Tickets mission, and there is smalltalk amongst students around the school that Derby and Bif (the head prep and his righthand man) are a couple. There's also a fair bit of gossip about the jocks playing nude twister and the like. :D

Gosh you never need to ask. It's great to see you. Yes, I was in HP fandom as Underlucius.

I had no idea there was CCE fanfic. I nearly died of the squee when Gary appeared in his nazi uniform. I bet there's a few fic spawned on THAT scene!! And that was before I found the male kissage.

I noticed them kissing at the cinema, you know, and I just didn't take the notice. My favourite character is one of the Preppies (don't know his name) who chats up Jimmy by saying "Would you like to come and see my collection of really expensive clothes?"

Small world! I was saskia_rose (I wrote a Lucius/Percy NC-17 bloodplay fic when the blacklisting debacle went down) and jessindistress. I DO remember your name!

D00d, costume!Gary/Pete really should be a pairing of its own! :D *cackles* Halloween is most awesome. (When I first played it, I swear, my jaw dropped and I was thinking, "How can ANYONE not think Gary and Pete have something going on?")

Yes... there's fic... [livejournal.com profile] bully_bl. I didn't start the comm, I merely found it when Googling around last year and the then-mod handed it over to [livejournal.com profile] bombaygin and I when she didn't have time anymore.

just didn't take the notice. My favourite character is one of the Preppies (don't know his name) who chats up Jimmy by saying "Would you like to come and see my collection of really expensive clothes?"

Hee! Gord! I love that guy... he's awesome. He's so cocky and smug, and I swear, he never sounds NOT!flirtatious. :)
