[Error: unknown template qotd]Hmmm.

I don't think I can choose one:

When I was a child I wanted to be Pippi Longstocking because she lived alone, travelled all over the place, had been a queen, and didn't have to worry about brushing her hair or what she wore.

Although I loved CS Lewis, I didn't want to be any of the kids. I wouldn't have minded being Tirian as he was obviously gay and in love with his unicorn, which is hot rather disturbing. And he got to spend eternity with his friend, who I'm sure was actually under a spell or something.

I DEFINITELY wanted to be a Borrower. probably not Arriety, as she was pretty damned stupid.

Oh and Jill. Of course
. But then, I pretty much WAS Jill. Although I never had a Perfect Pony

Leaving aside the Potterverse, I wouldn't've minded being Will Stanton from the Dark Is Rising sequence. Magical powers and immortality? Sign me up.

I haven't read those, I'll have to give them a go. The film sank without trace, I see.

The film sank without trace, I see.

And so it should've. On the basis of reviews that described the butchery they'd committed on the books, I couldn't bring myself to see it.

It's hard to imagine how they could've made a more hideous fuckup of the storyline and characters if that's what they'd been deliberately trying to do.

Will as an American? Now there's a concept straight out of the Pit Of Voles.

(Fair warning, she really doesn't hit her stride until the second book, but it's worth persevering.)

As a child of the 60's, I wanted to be George out of the Famous Five; Anne was too wussy for me and made me cross. But what I wanted most of all was to be a mermaid: all that wonderful long blond hair and the freedom of the oceans.

Yes - George was good! Although I probably would have wanted to be Timmy. Anne need a good slap. You just KNEW that Julian would marry her.

I also wanted to be a mermaid. I used to try and swim in the bath when I was small enough to do that! :)

Possibly the Chesshire cat, if he can be included. I was always quite fascinated with his ability to appear and disappear...and he always appeared to be laid back and happy.

Of course there was always Tigger.
