Now that it's been announced I can do it too!  If you haven't read The Phoenix by Ruth Sims then you should, but hold your horses and don't buy the current edition as it's being re-edited, revamped and relaunched with Lethe Press ([livejournal.com profile] lethepress) due out February 2009.

I'm really pleased about this, as The Phoenix was one of the first gay historicals I read and I loved it, the characters, the research, the conflict (oh GOD the conflict...)  I'm also thrilled because Lethe is really expanding and taking on the relaunch of three wonderful m/m novels:

A Strong and Sudden Thaw by R W Day ([livejournal.com profile] rwday) (and hopefully the sequel which I know that many of you are gagging for)
Dancing in the Dark by Tamara Allen; ([livejournal.com profile] girluknow) and
The Phoenix by Ruth Sims.([livejournal.com profile] ruth_sims)

Seeing as how the top best sellers at Linden Bay right now are Lessons in Love by Charlie Cochrane and some book about Frost Fairies by some Greek bloke, I'm not hearing so much of the "there's no market for it" murmurs now, are you?

X________X;; Should I be UPSET at the revamp/re-edited version of The Phoenix that I bought earlier this year?! AUGH!

D'oh ! I re-read the comment and realised I mistyped it. See, I bought The Phoenix earlier this year. What I was trying to say is: DARN IT! Why after I buy the earlier release!!!

I get paid on Friday. Can't wait. So much shopping to do!

Writing original fic is scary but cool. Very rewarding. I'm just hoping it is good enough!

It is scary, but so much more rewarding (IMHO don't leap on me, fanficcers) than i ever found with fanfic.

Kind of like jumping off the high board after only having fallen head first into the pool. Meep.

A Strong and Sudden Thaw and R.W. Day are in the spotlight this week (Thursday) for my Top Gay Romance list. I'm glad to hear that the book will be again available soon.

Oh that's excellent - she's rubbish at self-promo, so it'll be good to see a spotlight with her.

They are all of them such fantastic books! I have them all in their earlier editions, so I congratulate Lethe Press on its good taste :)

Writes like Oscar Wilde, with an erection, I've heard. Seems a rather messy way of doing it, if you ask me. I mean, how does he get the ink in there?

Oh I misheard. I thought he wrote like Oscar Peterson with an election.

I love whistling in the Dark so much...

I've heard they use special pumps nowadays...but I've no proof of that, mind. :-)

Thanks for this post! I have a friend, Dale, and she wrote a collection of Victorian m/m erotica that had been accepted by Haworth, and, of course, that fell apart. Do you think now would be a good time for her to approach another company? Do you have any suggestions?

Oh - a new m/m writer!

I'm not sure about collections - they are often difficult to place - it might be worth contacting Lethe to see if they are interested - or perhaps ManLoveRomance? I know that they do collections.

Please let me know her progress as I'll add it to The List if it gets published.
