help!!

How do i buy stamps to get an acknowledgement from a editor?

"Authors outside the United States should send disposable manuscripts with a
business sized SAE and proper US postage. US postage can be purchased online
at usps.com from anywhere in the world. No IRCs, please"

How do I know the correct postage? *confused* I'm unlikely to send an IRC
as I wouldn't know an IRC if it bit me.

Do you have a scale? The USPS site will, somewhere, tell you how much postage to use based on weight.

International postage costs 78 cents, and that's all you need for a response from an editor.

Oops. That's according to weight, yep, but if you're expecting only a one-page response, that's all you need.

IRC is International Reply Coupon - that's what we here are generally asked to send as return postage when we submit to foreign markets.

What's the deadline? I can send you some stamps if you can't get them any other way.

it's the 15th I think. I'll look into the usps site, and see if they take debit cards. If not, I'll send you some dollars. I've queried them, they say "hard copy only" but I batted puppy eyes at them and begged the UK card. We'll see. Thank hun.

The current postage for a one ounce letter from the USA to any country (other than Canada or Mexico) is 84ยข. I send mail to London and to the EU often, so this is current info. One ounce will cover mailing a letter.

When you purchase US postage online by credit or debit card, you can print out the label that indicates pre-paid postage. Put that on the self-addressed emvelope to include with your manuscript. Use a long envelope and they can fold their letter to fit, since the USA uses different sized paper and envelopes than other countries.

Hopefully they won't mail you anything, and will contact you by e-mail or phone (because that means "Yes").

Best of luck with your submission.

P.S. The reason they don't want an IRC is they would have to take it to a Post Office and swap it for stamps.
