Personally I'd lose the beard, but wouldn't this make a great template for a gay pirates book cover?

The problem with the beard is it's not luxurious. :p

And the other one can't be Black Bellamy, unless a bleach job was involved in which case he'd have to change his name to Blond Bellamy, and that just doesn't strike terror in the hearts of men!

BLOND BELLAMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *dies of the giggles *

That's his brother. A dark secret that Black Bellamy lives in fear anyone ever finding out about. He's rather into musical theatre. Of course the Pirate Captain is much more open minded about such things and would welcome him onto his ship if he knew, but Black Bellamy would never live down the shame, and of course it would mean that for once he'd lose face to The Pirate Captain.

*stops self from writing The Pirates! fanfic*

I think Burt could get away with playing the Pirate with a scarf though.

Yes - I think I've seen the film, but too long ago for me to remember much about it.

Someone called Nick Cravat from The Crimson Pirate.

I think someone's nicked his.

I remember The Crimson Pirate but not Mr Cravat. IMDB sez "Long-time circus acrobatic partner of Burt Lancaster (performing as "Lang & Cravat") may have been short on stature, but he was big on athletic prowess and highly enjoyable to watch on-screen." And "In the films The Flame and the Arrow (1950) and The Crimson Pirate (1952), he played characters that were mute. This was because he spoke with a very thick Brooklyn accent that he could not shake, and it would have been wildly out of place in such period costume dramas."

Acrobatic partner eh? First time I've heard it called that!

Interesting though, thanks!

Ooooh, Burt Lancaster in his prime. I suspect only folks of a certain age would know that. Is it from The Crimson Pirate?

I'd read it!

(Well, um, of course I would.)

And it makes me think of Asterix, which is not a bad thing, but not the sexiest image I can come up with.

I loved Nick Cravat. More than Burt in many ways because Burt was just TOO MUCH. I've always had a soft spot for sidekicks.
