I’m reading The Facts of Life by Patrick Gale which is an interesting departure for me, although I know it has a gay theme running throughout, even if it’s very hidden in the first section, it reads – and is, I suppose – like one of those sweeping family sagas, and that’s just something I’m so bored with. I spent so many years reading them in the 80’s – there was a positive rash of them after A Woman of Substance – that I went off them, and The Facts of Life really brings to mind why. I am just not interested in the minutiae of people’s lifes, nappies, childbirth, commuting blah blah. I’m just not a kitchen sink reader I suppose. It’s the same thing with films too, Mother was always making faces when I told her I was going to see yet another Sci-fi or fantasy film, but life is depressing enough, I don’t need to go and see it for entertainmnet (most of the time.)

I’ve been playing with Google Earth this morning, it’s so fabulous. I’ve been stalking people’s houses – people I know their addresses, anyway.asphodeline your road looks like Ramsey Street! Hayden Thorne, you live in such a lovely location!! I adore maps so much. CONTINUES STALKING

If you're stalking mine, ours is the one with the two New Zealand cabbage plants which now reach up to the bedroom window. (They were 2ft when I bought them). It's obviously pre 2004 as our old car (Granada Scorpio) is outside. At least it was taken summertime so the garden looked nice and overgrown and flowery!

Google photographed my street on trash day. The trash truck had already come by and left empty trash cans lying on the ground in front of my house--just the sort of first impression we'd all like people world-wide to get of our homes. Sigh.
