Finally got the online site to accept my car tax.  You’d think that these things would be instant, as I renewed my insurance a week ago, but it took that long for the details to register online. Have to wait five days for the actual piece of paper, but at least if i get caught on camera I will be on the computer system as having paid. Phew.

Good News!  Agent in a Box actually works!  I had serious doubts about it, whether it was just a vanity kind of site and whether agents would really review submissions through the site, but I got a rejection today (what? you were expecting otherwise? :) ) for Junction X and so – yes, it works!  And although the agent apologised for the late response, she’d actually only taken four weeks, so that wasn’t long at all. Personal, if brief rejection “sorry, it’s not right for me” and it was nice of her to apologise.

Transgressions made Ruth Sims cry. I win!  Seriously, though, to be able to evoke any emotion in my readers is a huge joy.  Every reader hopes they might be able to do it, but we never really know if we will.  All we have, really, is our own reactions, and that of our friends, family (which are less than objective) and our betas who are often reading with a different “head” on – a hard, critical head, so they aren’t so open to emotions.  I remember when writing Standish sobbing my heart out when writing “Fleury’s Letter” (that’s because I’m a big soppy) but having no clue if anyone else would find it sad.  Same with sex scenes – the only clue that they are working is if I get warmed up, and if I hear back from people that they work, it’s a huge lift.

Thank God for Betas!!  Gehayi spotted a rather amusing typo in Tributary - where I’d mentioned Wallace.  Of course, she knew (without being told) that I meant Wallis Simpson and not Wallace, Gromit’s friend.  That could have been embarrassing.  I can just see Wallace sitting with the Duke of Windsor.  “More Cheese, David?”

Yeah, I've gotten several rejections from webook, too. Even so, I like their system quite a bit. I hope it becomes popular with more agents.
