Well I got another agent rejection.  I kid myself that it’s not a stock letter (although I know that it really is) and I take heart from the phrase: While your work certainly has merit, it simply isn’t right for his list.

Yes yes – I know it’s a stock letter, but I take comfort in whatever I can – Ok?

I have been researching military uniforms recently.  Did you know that hussars’ trousers had 18 buttons down the outside of each leg so they could be removed that way?

*hugs* At least there are people like us out here who knows your work does have merit without the whole stock letter thing.

I read a Mills and Boon historical once where the writer took basically the entire final chapter to describe them getting each other undressed before the sexxin' ensued. It was great! Sensual, teasing fun. But it also made it really stand out from just being another sex scene like a dozen others. (In other books that is, not like there were a dozen in the same book! :D)

Sod the jacket -- next HP fandom trope: Snape's Trousers?

Snape wouldn't be seen dead in trousers. It's only the stupid films that put him in them.

Don't care, the ones from the films have buttons on the cuffs, so I ADORE them.

I am swooning at the very thought of those hussar's trousers.

ever seen the uniform for the sherwood foresters,

http://www.wfrmuseum.org.uk/sf_collection.htm

it doesn't have the black dress uniform which is like the sexiest one ever, think a sharpe uniform with all that braid that ends at the stomach with matador trousers for that flash of white shirt when they moved
and the braid meant it was almost solid,
I'm very fond of that uniform even if i can't find pictures

and i did know that about hussar's trousers...
i've read le hussard sur les toits where it comes up
it was to make it easier to treat battlewounds, they used sturdy fabric and it was expensive so if they were wounded in the leg they could salvage the trousers.
ah practicality

Nom nom nom

And of course the trousers were leatherised in the crotch area so putting hte buttons on the fabric parts was a lot more sensible.

Well, that's disappointing.

On the other hand, you were only turned down because this particular agent doesn't deal with romance publishers who are interested in male/male romance. That's annoying, but it's nothing you could have changed. (And presumably if his list of clients was interested in male/male romance, he would have said yes. He did tell you that your work had merit, after all.)

Well, the book isn't a romance, so I don't think it applies in this case.

Obviously, the precursors to the infamous Chippendales' tear-away trousers.

With the ADDED BONUS OF FLYING BUTTONS! (sadly can't be done with the Chips due to Health and Safety concerns)
