Fantastic article by Jeremy Clarkson on The State of the Hamster

No. I don't read the Sun. I dislike the Sun intensely, but I do quite like Clarkie, and this interview made me laugh and cry in alternate measures.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] semioticwarrior I've just noticed that Iris Print has put sample chapters of [livejournal.com profile] rwday's "A Strong & Sudden Thaw" up on the website.

Go Read. NOW. You won't regret it, and if you do, you can come back here and berate me.

Am watching "Hornblower" It's the Slashy episode with a dying Archie. *melts* I want to go and sit on the couch, but La Lili La Pinke has decided that sitting on the computer desk is the new place to be next to mummy and so I can't leave her. *is so pussy-whipped*

[livejournal.com profile] shiv5468 pointed me to that article too. I found it incredibly... what's the word? Heartening? Uplifting? I think you know what I mean.

I think he's going to be fine, or at least mostly fine. It will take a long time, but he'll be fine eventually.

Its a lovely article, and you can really HEAR clarkie's voice. They all take the piss out of each other but you can feel the affection they've all got

I loved the bit where Richard didn't seem to recognise him at first because he wasn't teasing him, so he did and Richard smiled. :) I thought it shows how good friends they all are. It's just that friendship between them that makes it so entertaining to watch, even for people like me who don't even have a driver's license and don't know anything at all about cars.

That's a fabulous article. I do like Mr. Clarkson, he's honest in his opinions andnot shy in coming forward as we might say. I love the new-style Top Gear because they genuinely seem to have fun and that fun spills over onto the audience.

I shall read the Thaw later, looking forward to it.

I like him too. He's forthright. and that article is very obviously actually written by him!!

Could you do me a big favour? I don't have adobe and I'd like to read the chapters again (long time since i read it) could you copy the text into word and mail it to me? *begses*

I hope that's not the final editing of 'Thaw' - my nitpicky brain has just spotted a typo on page 11! (Gramdmam instead of Grandmam. So sue me. ;-} ) But I like it so far! I'll be buying this if/when it ever turns up in the UK, definitely.

Argh. I just checked my copy of the final proof, and yes, it's there. I read through it twice in addition to the editor, and missed it completely.

Sadly, those sorts of errors slip in. I tried to catch what I could, but of course I'm reading what I THINK is there as much as what's actually there.

*headdesk*

I hate to say so, but there's another slip on the top of page 26 - "I'll still a boy to them..." is missing a "be" (probably).

Couldn't read it - got those notorious blocks and crosses and ones and zeros... Shame because it sounded really worth it.

Read the other comments and I am SO HAPPY to hear that Richard is making progress! Last thing I heard (on Dutch tv) was that he was removed from Intensive Care but had severe brain damage.

You know, I couldn't care less about cars but I *always* watch Top Gear. Simply because of those guys. When watching, I can practically *feel* that they have a very sincere friendship and besides, their humour always cracks me up.

Thanks for those links! I do like [livejournal.com profile] rwday's writing style, and I think I'll definitely be buying this one.

And this is one time when I think I'm glad to be away from the UK, in order to miss all the Top Gear wank that's undoubtedly ensuing.

My cat always used to sit on top of my monitor, paw hanging "discreetly" over the screen.
