A SENSIBLE person.

I had to go to a jobfinders agency today, as part of my unemployment thingy, although I had explained millions of times that I was signing off in two weeks to be Dad’s carer – and they were very sensible – realised it was a waste of their time and money to go any further with the whole thing so we just sat and chatted for half an hour, which was nice, and she ticked the boxes she needed to tick. I still have to go and sign on next week though, with my fake list of “jobs I’ve applied for.”  I mean… really. Can you imagine how pissed off employers would really be if I really applied? “Hello, we’d like you to come for an interview tomorrow.” “Sorry, I can’t, the job centre just told me I had to apply to tick their boxes.”

They had this amusing ticky box questionnaire to fill in, (got love the ticky boxes) which was hilarious. They actually had the equivalent of “Work, do you want to do it?” (sadly no, “alcohol, is it nice?” question – One of them was “I don’t need a job to get where I want to in life.” And there’s a moralistic answer that pops up saying “What do you want to achieve in life and how are you going to get there? Let’s look at the option, it could be that work would help you achieve what you want to do.” Hell, my sister never did a hand’s turn of work in her bloody life, and she’s the one with the Big House and being maintained by absent man for the remainder of her life.

Whereas I was the little piggie who went to work and have ended up with nothing very much!  I’m not complaining, mind you, other than wanting a small Georgian house in its own grounds, or on the Broads, e.g. abutting the water I’m happy , and you never know, writing MIGHT bring those things yet. I’m just sayin’ that sometimes I wish I hadn’t been so damned independent, and had gone the route my sister did!

I'm becoming more and more convinced that work is overrated and that it's all been a big conspiracy by men to get women to do at least two jobs and three if there are children.

i adore my acer-the screen is huge and the keyboard proper size so i'm not hunched up--never blue screened or crashed in the time i've had it

Oh no, this wasn't the Job Centre - this was TNG - a private firm which has been outsourced to help people back to work. So it makes sense they were sensible, as time is their money!! (not the taxpayers!)

However today I got a letter from the Job Centre saying that I'm still going to be getting Job Seekers Allowance after my Carer's Allowance kicks in - minus £20 - I don't understand this. I'm NOT AVAILABLE FOR WORK!!!

It gets a bit too hot due to no sunshades, but on days like today where it's been overcast it's really lovely - and the bird table and bird bath gives hours of fun. :)
