Just watched V for Vendetta.

Just. Wow.

Very glad I didn't read the graphic novels first, because I'm such a canon nazi and I'd hate the changes that are undoubtedly there but omg what a brilliant concept. Written in the '80's but even more relevant today.

I didn't realise it was Weaving under the mask - I couldn't imagine who it was.

Now I want to watch it all over again! I certainly will before I take the DVD back tomorrow.

I was very impressed with it too.
Weaving was amazing in so many ways.

I watched it a few weeks ago and I was quite shocked at how relevant it is to, er, recent events...I can see how it relates to the Thatcher era and the Cold War too, which is scary in another way, because all that stuff should be ancient history by now. Um, yeah. Got to love those dystopian-future stories, they never get old, do they?

Yes, it was wonderful. I had read the book, and there were changes, as there always are, but they made sense to me.

Hugo Weaving was splendid - I feel utterly privileged to have seen him live, and as I think I said in my short review on the other journal, Natalie Portman redeemed herself from the appalling wooden acting in Star Wars.

Yes, very relevant. I guess facism and world domination - whether by macdonalds or by the boot - never really goes away.

Yes, Portman was OK, apart from the rather dodgy accent, and Weaving was wonderful. I'll have to treat myself to the books now.

I look forward to your take on it!

Of course I don't notice the accents the way you would. Stephen Fry was wonderful too. Just a damn fine film. I've heard that Alan Moore has never been happy with any of his works' film adaptations, but I liked this one quite a bit. And From Hell too, but that could simply be because of Johnny Depp.

I went and saw it at the movies - it was brilliant, and the end scene with the fireworks and music, and just gah!!

My boyfriend and I both thought V for Vendetta was brilliant, and it's rare that we really agree about a film both intellectually and emotionally. Loved it!
