Just watched V for Vendetta.

Just. Wow.

Very glad I didn't read the graphic novels first, because I'm such a canon nazi and I'd hate the changes that are undoubtedly there but omg what a brilliant concept. Written in the '80's but even more relevant today.

I didn't realise it was Weaving under the mask - I couldn't imagine who it was.

Now I want to watch it all over again! I certainly will before I take the DVD back tomorrow.

Yes, it was wonderful. I had read the book, and there were changes, as there always are, but they made sense to me.

Hugo Weaving was splendid - I feel utterly privileged to have seen him live, and as I think I said in my short review on the other journal, Natalie Portman redeemed herself from the appalling wooden acting in Star Wars.

Yes, Portman was OK, apart from the rather dodgy accent, and Weaving was wonderful. I'll have to treat myself to the books now.

Of course I don't notice the accents the way you would. Stephen Fry was wonderful too. Just a damn fine film. I've heard that Alan Moore has never been happy with any of his works' film adaptations, but I liked this one quite a bit. And From Hell too, but that could simply be because of Johnny Depp.
