erastesPancake day or International Women's Day?Harry Hill would know…(excuse me for being completely fangirly as he tweeted and retweeted me *faint*) It seems rather incongruous to be slaving over Delia's pancakes and then burning one's bra. Perhaps it's just as well I can embrace all parts of my life without getting all hung up!
Today we had roast lamb shanks with rosemary and garlic and pancakes for dessert. The house smelled like mother, which is a bit worrying because that rather denotes she smelled like broccoli and garlic, which of course she didn't—but you know what I mean.
Weather was just fabulous, oh GOD the difference a sunny day makes to everything after months and months of greyness. If I could afford to bugger off to Spain for three months, I would.

Date: 2011-03-08 06:05 pm (UTC)I should note that my mother, who made my pancakes when she was a stay-at-home mother, also graduated top in her class at USC school of law and also decided on a career change after the age of fifty-five, to work as a software engineer for a major accounting firm.
And I can honestly say that I totally understand what you mean when you say your "house smelled like mother." That sentence brought tears to my eyes.
I'm sure my own children will someday say that every time they drive through a Taco Bell...
