Jan. 9th, 2007 01:21 pmThe first day, establishing a new "normal".
Back at work, and people are being fairly nice. Makes a bleeding change.
My creative writing workshop starts tomorrow, with the Divine Mr Tom (who I haven't met, but he sounds like Ian McKellern so my imagination insists that he will look like it. Of course he will ACTUALLY look like Bunsen Honeydew, and I will be dashed. However, HE'S probably hoping I look like Angelina Jolie and when Bibendum turns up, he'll be pretty disappointed too, so we are even on that score. I shall have to seduce him with my literary genius. *snorts*)
Which means of course that I won't be able to take advantage of Orange Wednesdays and get a free ticket to the cinema each week. grrr.
But I am dreading the first night of the course:
Writer One: Hello, I'm Susan and I write children's stories. My current WIP is about a mouse who has to stop her village from flooding.
Writer Two: Hello, I'm Bill and I write naval adventures. My current WIP is about the battle of the Nile.
Writer Three: Hello, I'm George and I write fantasy. My current WIP is about a boy born in New York who finds his mother was an elf.
Writer Four: Hello, I'm Erastes and I write gay porn. In breeches. My current WIP is about a 40 year old sexually repressed married stockbroker who falls in love with the next door neighbours' 17 year old son.
*stampede of feet heading for the exit.*
And I discovered that watching "The Usual Suspects" - even though I hadn't seen the movie before - when I knew who Kaiser Soze was in advance through spoilers, was a complete waste of time.
Ok. Off to try and reach my 750 words... Edward and Alec are in a car, and Edward is ruminating on the fact that the car has bench seats (normal in 1960) and that one swift reckless left turn would slide Alec along the seat towards him....
