I was watching Dragon's Den the other night and was interested in a failed pitch by a Norwich based writer who wanted £175000 to make a film of her book "Dance of the Goblins" - just did a search on it to see what the book was like and noticed that on IMDB that she's made it, as it's in post production.  However she did say that she had someone "well known" as an actor and there's no sign of HIM. But amusing that she's done the film. I suppose that loads of films must die without seeing the light of day, though. Distribution is a bitch , I understand.

Talking of films/cinema - going to see Stardust tomorrow - and NEXT WEEK - they are (unbelievably) showing "The Menagerie" (pilot for Star Trek) on at the cinema!!! So I've convinced Kerry into going as she needs her geek virginity broken.

I've joined the cool kids (such as [livejournal.com profile] evermonde (now known as Hayden Thorne) and [livejournal.com profile] rwday and have activated my long-dormant Erastes Wordpress blog which I'll only use for writerly things.

Heroes!  Argh!  What cliffhangers!  They said in the "behind the scenes" programme that "the network goes off air for five weeks after 18 episodes" so that's why all cliffhangers are in that episode. Why is that?

I read Death In Venice at long last - and also watched the DVD, preferred the book (which is usual for me). I thought the film was rather dull, and actually gave up half way through. But the book is tremendous - which is probably why the film just didn't hack it because there's almost no dialogue in the book - it's so internal.

Wrote about 700 words today. And had an exciting email, but I can't talk about it yet, because I'm superstitious.

AND IT'S COLD!!!!  BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Going to bed with a hot water bottle.

ahhh, but see, real confidence would be found in an act of trying to get some of this poetry submitted for publishing from time to time....

You wouldn't happen to have any recommendations as to how/ where one might start, would you? After all, now that you are on the cool kids list, you must prepare yourself for such questions from us underlings.

I just want jump in line to ask you before you get sick of answering them!

There are Holiday breaks in midseason that lasts about a month.

Also this season of Heroes might end uber early if you read my last entry due to the writers' strike.

(I just read that Joss Wheadon has joined other former Buffy writers in picketing....)

Aha! But it's also on at the Odeon Covent Garden (on Shaftesbury Avenue), so I think, if you don't mind, I'll book for there. Somewhat easier to get to/from...

I agree with you. However I adore Luchino, film is so boring that I never watched it completely.
BTW, may I ask you why you chose this pic?

Well I do think that Tadzio is just about one of the most beautiful things on the planet in the film and in stills - and he looks a LITTLE like me when younger (not that I was beautiful, but he has a look of me, long nose, high cheekbones) - or perhaps that's WHY I find him beautiful....;)

Yes, I knew it by intuition.
Then, David Leavitt is right. "Whoever it is that we love, that is what we are."

I watched that too. However, I was instantly guilty of thinking "oh-oh JKR!" *hits self* But go her, it seems! I did think they were particularly awful to her in their responses but then again money talks, huh?

I don't need a hot water bottle...I have Puss on my feet.
