So, I started to read "The Eyre Affair" last night and I simply could not could not put it down. I read over half before I passed off, book on my face. Utterly loving it. It's interesting to see the other side of the argument and having a man writing a female perspective - due to my reading habits over the last few years I haven't encountered this for a while, and I don't think he quite gets it "right" hee hee. But I'm not complaining, it's still a great read.

Oh and FINALLY I see where JKR got her Camping Trip from HELL idea from for Deathly Hallows, as this is one of the lines in The Eyre Affair"

"Backpacking in the Forest of Dean?  Whatever made him do a thing like that?"

Well, he didn't steal the idea from someone else, apparently!

I also laughed like a DRAIN at the explanation for why apostrophes appear all over the place in the wrong places e.g "Cauliflower's Two Pound's"

And I agree with people.  Animated Batman is the best characterisation. YUM.

Lovely review for Standish, from Tina Anderson, a writer I much admire.  Thanks, Tina - and I absolutely adore that you've got a picture of Regency Blackadder at the head.  They look like they are reading the book.

Bizzarre today, I've got what feels like stubble rash. Itchy red and hivey-All over my mouth and chin.  Unshaven Incubus, do you think?

I took your advice and deleted my free trial of WoW. I have enough distractions and although I was literally drooling over other rogues who were up to, like, level 65 (I stalked one for a while, he was so bloody hot) I was just failing miserably at it, dressed like the N00B I was, and unable even to find a wine shop... then I went for an explore in the country and here's a tip - Don't go wandering in a place called Duskwood when you are only level six and the spiders can kill you with one chomp.  Anyway, best I keep away from it! It's not like I don't have a PSX and a PS2 and a Gamecube....

Spotted on ERECblog - The owner of Blu-phi'er takes his ("lazy, childish, assholes") authors to task.  If you want to see what kind of publisher not to submit to? This is it.

Where there any m/m winners at the Passionate Plume RWA awards?  No? Didn't think so..... *sigh*

[Error: unknown template qotd]There's no real mystery to "Erastes" - I simply wanted a penname which described what I wrote, and I thought Erastes would "do exactly what it said on the tin" - e.g. people would even know what it was, or might go and look it up.  Being the name for the top in a Greek relationship might give a clue.  Even though Greek men are called that even now, but I think it's in the same way that English girls are being called Clymidia or Chardonnay.

I do admit to choosing a gender neutral or a masculine name - and (probably mistakenly) putting my bio up as male for a while, but I always admitted I was female if anyone wrote to me saying "dear sir..."!  I really didn't think that it would be an issue - it isn't in ANY other genre, just about, so I (naively) thought it would be OK in m/m.  However I learned differently and now state that I'm female out front.

As to my real name - which I'm not prepared to give out - I was named after my godmother who was French, both in my first name and my second name which I tell no-one.

If I'd been a boy, I would have been Hayden Maxwell [surname] which would have been really cool.
