Does anyone remember the friends episode when Phoebe tries to tell her bank she's got a wrong amount in there and they keep giving her more money?  (stupid question, of course you do, it's repeated every five fucking minutes)

Well I'm having a book related problem like this.

Last year, the lovely Kate Rothwell sent me two books: The Dictionary of Slang by Farmer and Henley. Book 1 and 2. Sadly only book one arrived and I've been after book 2 for a while. Finally—after I received a gift card for the Amazon Associates programme—I found a set of both books for only $0.17 !  The postage was $20 but it was worth it as far as I was concerned so I sent for it. I planned to pass on the superfluous book one in a promo contest or something.

Book one arrived.

I waited a while then contacted the seller and was told today "sorry, it was a listings error, we only had book one"!!!!!  So they've kindly refunded the whole amount.

BUT NOW I HAVE TWO BOOKS ONE AND NO BOOK TWO!!! Hulk Smash.

ETA: Hurrah!  Oxfam at amazon had book two! Sorted!

I suppose I would be posting more about this series if it annoyed me. at the moment, aside from the fact that Jaime and Renly are no where near as beautiful as they should be, I think the whole thing is pitch perfect.

Tyrion and Littlefinger are pwning everyone else, as it should be, and when backstory is needed it's not all dumped in at the place in the book where it appears, it's placed in a spot where it can be exposed well and without "as you know, bob" dialogue. I know people were complaining that Theon Greyjoy hadn't been introduced, even though he was there in the scenes, and now that his story has been deftly explained in a short scene between himself and Tyrion we know enough about him which will hold until his story takes off later.

I love it. What more can I say?
