Not with Dad, as he wasn’t feeling up to much this morning. He has low blood sugar (like me) and mornings aren’t a good time generally. I can’t get him to remember to HAVE BREAKFAST which is something mother always made sure he had, with toast and lots of marmalade. Course by the time I rang him a couple of hours later he’d forgotten all about that conversation! So I’m going over there tomorrow instead, which will make a change. Missed father’s day, but he wouldn’t know it was that, anyway!

It’s been strange to be home on a Sunday!  People aren’t around, so I’ve been a bit bored, although I know I should be writing!  I finished chapter 19 of Mere Mortals yesterday (for my new friends, which I know I picked up thanks to “How Publishing Really Works”’s blog party, this is my Work in Progress, a gay historical gothic-mystery-romance set on the Norfolk Broads in 1847) and I was a bit stuck as to where to go next. I have my ducks in a row as to the major things that need to happen but the ACTUAL next thing was eluding me.  Then – as often happens – I was chatting to Gehayi about it, and something she said sparked me off, and now I have a focus. Must try and start chapter 20 tonight. Chapter 20!  That’s somewhere I never thought I’d be so quickly. :D

My cats are weird. (Well, yes, I know you knew this) Cats are not supposed to like getting wet, are they? Severus in particular seems to take intense pleasure in it, and today he’s come in three time utterly soaking.  He seems to think it amusing as he runs in, leaps into my arms, falls asleep, and an hour later, he gets off, nice and warm and dry and Mother is mildly damp.  No wonder my wrists ache. It’s rheumatism, brought on by wet cats.

The Sun egg is a self-bred one, so I’m hoping for a different dragon than the one I have, there are quite a few alternatives, so fingers crossed.

Adopt one today! - Adopt one today! - Adopt one today! - Adopt one today! - Adopt one today! - Adopt one today!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

If you're bored, I've started a thread over at the GLBT Bookshelf with a question about how the wiki will define historical (and how we'll classify not-quite-historical works). I'd be really interested in what you (and other bona fide hisotircal generists) have to say about that, if you have the time. I looked over SIN and didn't find a formal definition. The thread is here: http://bookworld.editme.com/Topic

Cheers,
Lee B.

LOL mine don't seem to be fond of water (except when Angel sits on the edge of the tub while I'm taking a bath, and his tail always ends up in the water, which he appears not to notice for several minutes, then has a meltdown when he does...) but they like a great variety of things cats are said not to enjoy.

Citrus. I was always told that if your cats are spraying, scratching, etc. a place you don't want them to, spray a citrus scent there, because cats hate citrus. Not so much for mine; Angel steals my orange slices and my grapefruit juice.

Vacuum cleaner? Try again! It's Angel's arch nemesis, yes, but Jackson's favorite thing to do is stick his face in the tube when it's running and see if it sucks his whiskers off.

*throws up hands*

Heh - yes! Both boys when they were younger would join me in the bath, sitting on my chest while I was trying to read, and yes, they'd get a hot wet tail (!) and didn't seem to care!

Am laughing about him sticking his face into the tube - you MUST video this!

There is! :) I sent Mel an email last night with this question, and he started the thread for us.

Your cats must be of the feline subspecies known as 'water cats'. I had one once who loved the sprinkler.

You're safe - Father's Day isn't until the 21st!

Who has the memory problem? *g*

That's not memory, that's just simply not knowing what the date is and not keeping up with stuff - i see the adverts on the TV (for the last 2 weeks) and assume that it's coming up!

They are very odd cats. Entirely silent too, almost, which is strange, too!
