instantly I i hit a snag.

Jonathan (my Quaker) speaks in thees and thous.  I've just realised that I havent got either his mother or his maternal grandfather speaking like that.  I could change them - will have to i suppose - but its a bit of a mountain for the reader - it wasnt too bad when he was only talking to David - who doesnt thee and thou...

grrr.

AND - how did they light candles?  tinder boxes i'm assuming?  Jon "fumbles in the dark for a candle"  couldhe do it in the dark.

bloody santimonious hypocritical pompous prig. who bloody invented him anyway? oh. that would be me.

and it serves me right. I start off the story with a glorious naked tanned david sunbathing in a meadow then i go an introduce a conflicted tainted corruptible who has a concience but not enough will power to exercise it.

*PULLS OUT HAIR* but, as i've gone past my word count i can do Milne for the rest of the day - and that counts too!! (actually i think i will change my Goal to 20K of Transgressions. anything else is extra.
